Sustainable Weight Management Without the Diet Mentality

Break free from diet and weight cycles, and find stability in your strongest body.

RECOGNITION AND VALIDATION

Does this sound familiar?

Weight management feels like a job you never clock out of: constant counting, weighing, tracking, starting over, and starting over again.

You have been told, for years, that managing your weight is the path to being well.

Decisions about food are based on creating a deficit, “being good,” “making up” for poor food choices, or “working off” what you ate the other day.

You feel fine with food and body until a number on the scale, a photo, a comment, or a clothing size hijacks that feeling.

You are exhausted by conflicting information about what to eat and how to exercise.

You want to trust your body and maintain a stable weight, you just don’t know how.

Scope, plainly

What is Weight Management?

Our weight management approach focuses on metabolic optimization and developing a healthy, sustainable relationship with food and your body rather than pursuing quick fixes or focusing on food avoidance.

We address the behavioral and emotional factors that influence eating patterns while supporting your body’s natural ability to regulate weight. This isn’t about deprivation. It’s about understanding your unique needs and creating lasting change.

How we help

Support that meets you where you are

Assessment and plan

We begin by understanding your medical, dieting and weight history, current eating patterns, and relationship with food and body image. Together, we develop personalized strategies that honor your hunger and fullness cues, address emotional eating triggers, and create sustainable lifestyle changes.

Practical strategies

You’ll learn to distinguish between physical and emotional hunger, develop practical meal planning skills, and build confidence in your food choices.

Our approach to weight management

We reject diet culture & weight cycling in favor of evidence-based strategies that support long-term health.

Our approach includes intuitive eating principles, behavioral change techniques, and practical nutrition guidance.

We focus on what you can add to your life rather than what to restrict, helping you create a balanced, enjoyable approach to eating that you can maintain for life.

Goals of weight management:

  • Break free from restrict-binge cycles
  • Develop intuitive eating skills and body trust
  • Create sustainable eating patterns that support your goals
  • Address emotional and stress eating
  • Improve metabolic health and energy levels
  • Build a positive relationship with movement and exercise
  • Avoid repeated weight cycling and arrive at a stable comfortable weight

GLP-1 Support

Nutrition support for GLP-1 medications

GLP-1 receptor agonists (including Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Zepbound) are medications that can significantly impact appetite, digestion, and eating patterns.

Nutrition support can help people taking these medications meet their nutrition needs and cope with side effects such as nausea or early fullness. Many people experience side effects or struggle to maintain adequate nutrition and lean mass while taking these medications.

We’ll assess your current eating patterns, medication response, and any side effects you’re experiencing. Together, we’ll develop strategies to optimize your nutrition while managing potential challenges like nausea, early satiety, or food aversions. You’ll receive personalized meal planning guidance, practical tips for managing side effects, and ongoing support as you work toward your health goals.

Our approach emphasizes protein prioritization, strategic meal timing, proper hydration and practical solutions for managing side effects. We help you navigate the physical and psychological changes that come with altered appetite and eating patterns, ensuring you maintain a healthy relationship with food throughout your medication journey.

Our dietitians do not prescribe medication; we work alongside your prescribing clinician.

What we work on together:

  • Eating strategies for side effects such as nausea
  • Meeting protein and nutrient needs
  • Eating habits you can keep
  • Planning, with your prescriber, for dose changes or stopping the medication

Who you will work with

Care starts with a conversation with Rebecca Appleman, RD, our practice founder and executive director. She is the first point of contact for every person that reaches out to us; she completes every discovery call and supervises the clinical work of the team as a whole. Alongside her is a small team of registered dietitians with focused clinical interests, which often guide the clinical match for the client. The practice uses a tiered system of individual and group supervision to maintain clinical excellence.

Our clinicians are introduced on our team page, which details each dietitian’s clinical focus.

How payment works

We are a private-pay practice. Clients are billed monthly, during the first week of the month, for all services provided during the previous month. We do not bill insurance or submit claims for you, however, we provide a detailed receipt (superbill) with procedure and diagnostic coding so you can seek reimbursement on your own if your plan has out-of-network nutrition benefits. Fees are discussed on the discovery call and a fee schedule is also included in our paperwork in your client portal.

Questions we can answer now

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I lose weight working with you?

Our focus is on helping you develop healthy behaviors that support your body’s natural weight regulation. Some clients experience weight changes, while others find improved health markers and energy levels.

Do you believe in calories in, calories out?

While energy balance plays a role, we recognize that weight management is far more complex, involving genetics, hormones, stress, sleep, diet quality, and psychological factors.

What if I’ve tried everything and nothing works?

We hear this often. Our approach is different because we focus on healing your relationship with food first, which creates sustainable change from the inside out.

Do you support people who want to lose weight?

We support anyone who wants to work to improve their self-care and especially focus our work on improving health outcomes via food. If weight loss occurs naturally through these changes, we celebrate that outcome while maintaining focus on overall well-being.
