Transform Your Relationship with Food, One Session at a Time
Personalized nutrition counseling that honors your unique needs, preferences, and goals, without judgment or unrealistic expectations.
THE SERVICE
What is Individual Nutrition Therapy?
Individual nutrition therapy is a collaborative, one-on-one approach to nutrition counseling that goes far beyond meal plans and food rules.
It’s a process where we work together to understand the complex relationship between your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and food choices.
Our sessions are designed to help you develop a sustainable, enjoyable approach to eating that fits seamlessly into your life. We recognize that everyone’s relationship with food is shaped by their unique history, culture, lifestyle, and personal experiences. That’s why our approach is never one-size-fits-all. It’s entirely centered around you.
During individual sessions, we explore not just what you’re eating, but how and why you’re eating. We address the emotional, practical, and physiological aspects of nutrition, helping you build skills and strategies that support both your physical health and overall well-being.

OUR APPROACH TO INDIVIDUAL NUTRITION THERAPY
Evidence-Based, Yet Deeply Personal
Our individual nutrition therapy is grounded in a non-diet, Health at Every Size (HAES) approach that prioritizes your relationship with food over restrictive rules.
We believe sustainable change happens when you feel supported, understood, and empowered to make choices that align with your values and goals. Each session builds upon the last, creating a comprehensive understanding of your unique needs. We may work on meal planning one week, explore emotional eating patterns the next, and discuss social eating situations the week after.
The path is entirely yours, guided by your priorities and progress.
What Makes Our Approach Different:
- We start by listening, really listening, to your concerns, frustrations, and goals
- We honor your food preferences, cultural background, and lifestyle circumstances
- We focus on adding nourishment rather than taking foods away
- We address the emotional and behavioral aspects of eating, not just the nutritional ones

Who you will work with
Care starts with a conversation with Rebecca Appleman, RD, our practice founder and executive director. She is the first point of contact for every person that reaches out to us; she completes every discovery call and supervises the clinical work of the team as a whole. Alongside her is a small team of registered dietitians with focused clinical interests, which often guide the clinical match for the client. The practice uses a tiered system of individual and group supervision to maintain clinical excellence.
Our clinicians are introduced on our team page, which details each dietitian’s clinical focus.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from working with other nutritionists?
Our approach is collaborative, not prescriptive. We don’t believe in generic meal plans or strict food rules. Instead, we work together to understand your unique relationship with food as well as your medical nutrition needs and develop strategies that feel sustainable and enjoyable for your specific situation.
Do you provide meal plans?
We provide personalized nutrition guidance that may include meal frameworks, shopping lists, and recipe suggestions tailored to your preferences and lifestyle. However, we focus more on teaching you how to build satisfying, nourishing meals rather than following rigid meal plans or specific recipes.
How long does the process take?
Every journey is different. Some clients feel significant shifts within a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. We regularly check in about your progress and adjust our approach as needed. There’s no pressure to commit to a specific number of sessions.
Will you tell me I can’t eat certain foods?
Never. We believe all foods can fit into a healthy, balanced approach to eating. If you have specific medical conditions requiring dietary modifications, we’ll work together to find ways to manage these needs while still maintaining food freedom and enjoyment.
Do you work with medical conditions?
Yes, we have extensive experience supporting individuals with various health conditions including eating disorders, disordered eating, diabetes, PCOS and other endocrine disorders, digestive disorders, cardiovascular concerns, and more. We work collaboratively with your healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care.
What if I’ve tried nutrition counseling before without success?
Many of our clients have had previous experiences with nutrition counseling that felt restrictive, overwhelming, or judged in their previous work. Our approach is different. We focus on your relationship with food, not just the food itself. We’re committed to creating a different experience that feels supportive and sustainable.
