Transform Your Family’s Relationship with Food Together
Comprehensive nutrition support that addresses each family member’s unique needs while creating harmony around your dinner table.
THE SERVICE
What is Family Nutrition Therapy?
Family nutrition therapy is a comprehensive approach that recognizes food and eating as inherently social experiences that affect the entire family system.
Rather than working with individual family members in isolation, we address the complex dynamics, patterns, and relationships that shape how your family approaches food together.
Every family has its own food culture, influenced by traditions, schedules, preferences, challenges, and individual needs. Family nutrition therapy honors these unique dynamics while helping you create positive changes that work for everyone. We understand that lasting change happens when the whole family feels supported and involved.
Our family-centered approach addresses everything from practical meal planning challenges to complex feeding relationships, food-related conflicts, and varying nutritional needs within the same household. We help families navigate differences in food preferences, eating patterns, and health goals while maintaining connection and reducing stress around food.
Whether you’re dealing with picky eating, conflicting health needs, busy schedules, or simply want to improve your family’s overall relationship with food and ease at mealtime, family nutrition therapy provides the comprehensive support your family needs to thrive together.

She is the first point of contact for every person that reaches out to us; she completes every discovery call and supervises the clinical work of the team as a whole. Alongside her is a small team of registered dietitians with focused clinical interests, which often guide the clinical match for the client. The practice uses a tiered system of individual and group supervision to maintain clinical excellence.
Our clinicians are introduced on our team page, which details each dietitian’s clinical focus.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked Questions
Do all family members need to participate in sessions?
We tailor family involvement based on your specific needs and circumstances. Sometimes we work with the whole family together, sometimes with parents first, and sometimes with different combinations of family members. We’ll work with you to determine the most effective approach for your family.
What if family members have conflicting dietary needs or preferences?
This is pretty much every family’s reality and is actually one of our specialties. We help families navigate differences in dietary needs, preferences, and health goals while maintaining harmony. We focus on finding common ground and creating meal solutions that work for everyone.
How do you handle picky eating that affects the whole family?
We address picky eating as a family system issue, helping parents develop strategies that reduce stress while supporting the picky eater’s gradual expansion of foods. We also work on preventing picky eating patterns from affecting siblings and creating sustainable solutions for family meals.
Can you help with meal planning for busy families?
Absolutely. We provide practical meal planning strategies that work with real-life constraints like busy schedules, varying preferences, and limited time. We focus on efficiency without sacrificing nutrition or family connection.
What if parents have different approaches to feeding and nutrition?
This is almost always the case, because parents bring their own unique food histories and internalized family messages about weight, shape, and size to the table. We help parents align on feeding philosophies and approaches, arrive at a common language to discuss food and body, and address any conflicts or confusion that might be affecting the family’s food environment. Consistency between caregivers is important for children’s food security and overall family harmony.
Do you work with families who have members with eating disorders?
Yes, we have extensive experience supporting families navigating eating disorders. We work collaboratively with treatment teams and focus on creating a supportive family environment that promotes recovery while meeting everyone’s needs.
How do you address different generations’ attitudes toward food?
Many families struggle with generational differences in food attitudes, diet culture beliefs, and feeding practices. We help families navigate these differences respectfully while creating consistent, supportive approaches for children.
What about families with food allergies or medical dietary restrictions?
We specialize in helping families manage complex dietary needs, including food allergies, medical conditions, and special diets. We focus on inclusion and safety while ensuring the whole family feels supported and well-nourished.
