Colin Malloy is a Registered Dietitian and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant who brings specialized expertise in both maternal and infant nutrition to her work at Appleman Nutrition.
Her practice centers on women navigating their childbearing years, from preconception and fertility through pregnancy, the postpartum period, and their baby's earliest months. Colin earned her Master of Science degree in Clinical Nutrition from New York University and spent several years in clinical practice in an outpatient OB/GYN setting at The Mount Sinai Hospital. There, she worked closely with women managing high-risk pregnancies and supported families through postpartum recovery and the early stages of infant feeding, developing real depth in the medical and emotional realities of this season of life.
Colin's approach is at once compassionate and practical. She focuses on what is realistic for each client rather than what is restrictive, and she accounts for the many factors that shape a person's relationship with food, including lifestyle, culture, and individual goals.
As a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), she brings particular depth to the metabolic care that so often accompanies pregnancy and the postpartum period, including the management of gestational diabetes, hypertension, and PCOS. Her work also extends to diabetes and pre-diabetes, fertility nutrition, and the introduction of solids.
In joining Appleman Nutrition, Colin is eager to build the kind of meaningful, long-term relationships that allow care to deepen over time. She looks forward to collaborating closely with her colleagues and to developing strong partnerships with referral sources, so that clients receive thoughtful, coordinated care as a team.
Outside of the office, Colin enjoys spending time with her family, including their new baby girl, exploring parks and hiking trails, seeking out new coffee shops, cooking, and spending time on the family's sailboat in Ithaca, New York. These pursuits reflect the same balanced, joyful relationship with food and life that she hopes to help her clients discover.
Because Colin is credentialed in both maternal and infant health, she is able to support a mother and her baby as one connected pair rather than treating each in isolation, offering well-rounded guidance through every stage of the childbearing years.
Her compassionate and practical philosophy keeps the focus on what is realistic and sustainable rather than restrictive, meeting each client where she is and building from there.
By accounting for the full picture of a client's life, including lifestyle, culture, and personal goals, Colin creates a space where clients feel genuinely heard, free from judgment, and confident in their ability to nourish both themselves and their families.
