Your Nutrition Questions,
Answered with Care & Expertise
We understand seeking nutrition support can feel overwhelming. These thoughtfully curated answers reflect our commitment to meeting you exactly where you are in your relationship with food and health.
General Questions
-
We understand that your relationship with food is deeply personal and multifaceted. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, we take time to truly understand your unique history, challenges, and goals. Our approach is rooted in evidence-based practice, but delivered with the warmth and understanding that comes from genuine care for your wellbeing. We believe healing happens when you feel truly heard and supported.
-
We don't accept insurance directly, but we make reimbursement as seamless as possible for you. Upon payment, we provide detailed receipts with all necessary diagnosis and procedure codes for you to submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. Many of our clients find they receive substantial reimbursement, and we're happy to help you understand what documentation you'll need.
-
If you find yourself thinking about food, weight, or eating more than feels comfortable, or if you're struggling with your relationship with your body, nutrition counseling can help. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from our support. Many clients come to us simply wanting to feel more confident and peaceful around food. Trust your instincts; if you're considering it, there's likely something valuable here for you.
-
Your journey begins with a complimentary discovery call with our founder, Rebecca Appleman. This conversation helps us understand your needs so we can match you with the clinician whose expertise aligns with your goals. Your first session is then a comprehensive 90-minute consultation where we explore your history, concerns, and aspirations in a completely judgment-free environment.
About Us
-
Rebecca is our founder and executive director, a registered dietitian with over 20 years of clinical experience. She personally connects with every new client before they begin treatment, ensuring that your care is thoughtfully planned from day one. Her approach combines clinical expertise with genuine empathy, and she's dedicated to making sure each person feels understood and supported.
-
Every member of our team is a registered dietitian with specialized training in their areas of focus. We maintain extensive clinical supervision and collaboration, which means your care benefits from our collective expertise. Our team regularly engages in continuing education and stays current with research, but more importantly, we bring years of experience helping people navigate complex relationships with food and body.
-
Absolutely. We provide high-quality virtual nutrition counseling for clients who aren't local, travel frequently, or prefer the convenience of meeting from home. The quality of care remains the same regardless of format.
Our Services
-
Individual sessions focus entirely on your personal relationship with food, body, and health. Family sessions address the dynamics around food in your household, which are particularly helpful when feeding children or when multiple family members are working on their relationships with food. Both approaches recognize that eating happens in context and aim to create sustainable, peaceful patterns.
-
Sometimes the most challenging part of recovery isn't knowing what to eat, but actually sitting with the experience of eating. Meal support therapy involves sharing meals together, either in our office, at restaurants, or even virtually, where we can work through real-time challenges, address anxiety around eating, and practice skills in a supported environment.
-
This varies greatly depending on your individual needs and goals and the needs and goals of your family. Some clients find significant relief in just a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support as they navigate deeper patterns. We regularly check in about your progress and adjust our approach accordingly. You're never locked into a set number of sessions, nor do we sell “packages” of sessions; we work at your pace.
-
We create personalized nutrition guidance that feels sustainable and realistic for your life. Rather than rigid meal plans that can feel restrictive, we may develop structured meal maps with you that focus on helping you develop confidence in making food choices that serve your body and feel satisfying. Our goal is to help you become the expert on your own body.
Our Specialties
-
Our eating disorder treatment is grounded in a non-diet, weight-inclusive approach that honors your body's innate wisdom. We work collaboratively with your existing treatment team and focus on healing your relationship with food from the inside out. Recovery is possible, and we're here to support you through every step of that journey.
-
We take a distinctly different approach to weight management—one that focuses on overall health, body respect, and sustainable behaviors rather than the number on a scale. We help you identify what "living in your strongest body" means for you, and support you in developing eating and movement patterns that feel nourishing rather than punishing.
-
Digestive discomfort can significantly impact your quality of life. We provide comprehensive nutrition support for conditions like IBS, IBD, SIBO, celiac disease, and food intolerances. Our approach combines evidence-based nutrition interventions with practical strategies to help you feel confident eating in all situations.
-
We absolutely do, and we understand how stressful feeding challenges can be for families. Our pediatric specialists help parents create positive food environments while supporting children in expanding their eating. We believe feeding should be joyful, not stressful, and we'll help you get there.
Resources

We have offices in New York, Connecticut, and Florida, and we also serve clients virtually throughout these states and beyond. Our offices are designed to feel welcoming and comfortable, with spaces for both traditional counseling and supported dining experiences.

We do our best to get new clients scheduled as quickly as possible. We offer appointments seven days a week with morning, afternoon, and evening times available. Your first step is scheduling a discovery call with Rebecca, which we can typically arrange within a few days.
-
Life happens, and we understand that. We have a standard 48-hour cancellation policy and ask for reasonable notice when possible. We'll work with you to find a new time that works, as our goal is always to make nutrition support as accessible and stress-free as possible.
-
This is exactly why we start with a discovery call with Rebecca. She'll listen to your concerns and goals, and help determine which of our services and clinicians would be the best fit. You don't need to figure this out alone; we're here to guide you to the right support.
