Amanda Zeldes is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who brings both professional expertise and profound personal understanding to her work at Appleman Nutrition.
Her relationship with the practice spans over a decade, beginning when she was a patient herself and experienced firsthand the transformative impact that compassionate, evidence-based nutrition care can provide. This unique perspective informs her approach to every client interaction, allowing her to meet individuals with genuine empathy for the challenges they face while offering the expert clinical knowledge needed to guide them toward sustainable healing and wellness.
Her therapeutic approach combines evidence-based medical nutrition therapy with a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe discussing their struggles with food, body image, and health. Amanda excels at developing practical strategies, habits, and skills that support meaningful behavior change, tailoring her approach to each client's individual needs and circumstances. Whether working with adolescents navigating developmental challenges, adults seeking to improve their relationship with food, or individuals recovering from eating disorders, she creates a space where clients feel genuinely heard and equipped with actionable tools for their wellness journey.
With a Master's degree in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics from New York University, Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development and completion of NYU's accredited dietetic internship program, Amanda brings comprehensive academic preparation to her clinical work. Her diverse training includes clinical rotations at Mount Sinai West Hospital, as well as community and private practice experiences that exposed her to varied nutrition settings and complex clinical nutrition needs. Additional specialized training in traditional Chinese medicine nutrition, prenatal and postpartum nutrition, and sports nutrition has created a well-rounded, patient-centered foundation for her practice.
In joining Appleman Nutrition, Amanda is committed to continuous and vigorous learning and growth under the mentorship of Appleman Nutrition's experienced team while at the same time contributing her own unique clinical strengths.
Outside her clinical work, Amanda embraces the balanced, joyful approach to nutrition and wellness that she helps her clients discover. She finds joy through movement via strength training and Pilates, and she practices creativity in her own individual nourishment via experimentation with new recipes, which she shares with friends and family. Her love of exploring NYC's diverse café and restaurant scene reflects her belief that food should be a source of pleasure, cultural connection, and shared experiences rather than stress or restriction.
Amanda's personal history as a former patient at Appleman Nutrition gives her unique insight into the client experience, allowing her to approach each therapeutic relationship with a genuine understanding of what it feels like to thoroughly examine and heal from food and body concerns.
Her commitment to creating a nonjudgmental, compassionate environment helps clients feel safe enough to share their authentic experiences, fostering the vulnerability necessary for meaningful change and healing.
Amanda's diverse training across clinical, community, and specialized nutrition settings has equipped her with versatile, highly savvy skills which she uses to address a wide range of nutrition concerns while maintaining a patient-centered, individualized approach.
