Carrie Sterneck is a Registered Dietitian who creates a collaborative partnership with each client, recognizing that the journey toward food freedom is deeply personal and requires genuine understanding rather than one-size-fits-all solutions.
With over four years at Appleman Nutrition, she specializes in helping individuals develop a more intuitive relationship with food—one that honors their body's wisdom while reducing the mental energy consumed by food preoccupation. Carrie's approach is grounded in empathy and the belief that every person deserves to live a full life unburdened by struggles with food, weight, or body image.
Her therapeutic style focuses on meeting clients exactly where they are, without judgment or assumptions about what their healing should look like. Whether helping someone establish sustainable meal structure, navigating complex gastrointestinal concerns, or working through the spectrum of disordered eating patterns, Carrie brings both clinical expertise and genuine compassion to every interaction. She understands that food struggles often reflect deeper needs for connection, comfort, and control, and she works collaboratively with clients to address these underlying patterns while building practical skills for nourishing their bodies.
With a Bachelor of Science in Honors in Advanced Nutritional Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin and extensive clinical experience as a Senior Dietitian at Mount Sinai Hospital, Carrie brings both academic rigor and real-world medical insight to her practice. Her hospital experience with GI and oncology populations has deepened her understanding of how profoundly nutrition impacts overall health outcomes, while her specialized training in ARFID and SIBO management allows her to address complex feeding and digestive challenges with confidence and precision.
Outside her clinical work, Carrie embraces the joy and creativity that food can bring to life. She loves exploring NYC's diverse culinary landscape, experimenting with new recipes in her own kitchen, and spending quality time with friends and family—experiences that reinforce her belief that food should be a source of pleasure, connection, and cultural exploration rather than stress or restriction. This personal relationship with food's positive possibilities informs her work with clients who are learning to rediscover their own joy in eating.
Carrie's hospital experience with medically complex patients has equipped her with a nuanced understanding of how nutrition impacts healing, recovery, and overall health outcomes, bringing medical sophistication to her private practice work.
She excels at creating genuine therapeutic partnerships where clients feel truly understood and supported, fostering the safety necessary for vulnerable exploration of food and body relationships.
Carrie's expertise spans the full spectrum of eating concerns, from medical nutrition therapy and GI disorders to eating disorder recovery, allowing her to support clients with diverse and evolving needs.
